Vaginal symptoms and no idea why?

Itching, burning, unusual discharge, a change in odour or irritation can have several causes. A yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis or another imbalance can all produce similar symptoms.

So it can be hard to tell what is going on from the symptoms alone. Santelle analyses six biomarkers of your vaginal health to help you understand where they come from.

A vaginal self-test that analyses 6 biomarkers

Many vaginal self-tests sold in pharmacies rely mainly on measuring vaginal pH. Santelle analyses six biomarkers from a single sample.

This gives extra information about vaginal balance, particularly when symptoms could be linked to a yeast infection or a bacterial imbalance.

Frequently asked questions about vaginal tests in pharmacies

Can you buy a vaginal self-test in a pharmacy in Switzerland?

Yes. Several vaginal self-tests are available in pharmacies in Switzerland. Santelle is available in a selection of participating pharmacies as part of Consultation plus.

Can you get tested for a vaginal infection in a pharmacy?

Yes. Some pharmacies offer tests and consultations if you have discomfort or suspect a vaginal infection. In pharmacies taking part in the Santelle programme, you can talk about your symptoms with a healthcare professional and take the Santelle test on the spot.

Can you take a yeast infection test in a pharmacy?

Santelle can be used when you have symptoms that could suggest a yeast infection, such as itching, burning or unusual discharge. It is not only a yeast infection test though: Santelle analyses six biomarkers to help tell apart several possible causes of vaginal symptoms.

What is the difference between Santelle and a vaginal pH test?

A pH test only measures the acidity level of the vagina. Santelle measures pH too, but combines it with five other biomarkers. That gives you more information about your vaginal balance and about what may be behind your symptoms.

How long does the Santelle vaginal test take?

The Santelle test takes about 10 minutes. A single sample covers all six biomarkers. Once the test is finished, you can see your results in the Santelle app and get information to help you understand them.
