Santelle Scientific Committee
Santelle was developed with 4 international experts in gynaecology, vaginal health and molecular biology. Every feature of the app has been clinically validated and tested by our specialists.

Our scientific mission
We believe every woman deserves a deep understanding of her vaginal health. The Santelle scientific committee is committed to:
Clinical validation
All of Santelle’s biomarkers and algorithms are validated by peer-reviewed research.
Grounded in science
Every feature is based on the latest research in vaginal health and the microbiome.
Experts involved
Our specialists review every update and guarantee its medical accuracy.
The experts

Clinical validation and research
Santelle is built on years of validated scientific research and rigorous clinical testing.
CE certified (IVDR)
In vitro diagnostic medical device
Santelle meets the strictest European Union standards for diagnostic medical devices.
6 clinically validated biomarkers
Vaginal pH, H₂O₂, leukocyte esterase, sialidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase
Each biomarker was selected and validated for its ability to detect infections and imbalances in the vaginal microbiome with high sensitivity and specificity.
Algorithms designed by our gynaecologist
Developed by the gynaecologist on our scientific committee
The algorithms that detect yeast infections, vaginosis and vaginal imbalances were designed by the gynaecologist on our scientific committee, drawing on the vaginal microbiology literature.
How our committee works
Every decision about Santelle is scientifically validated. Here is our process:
01
Scientific review
Our experts review recent publications and clinical data to keep Santelle at the leading edge of the science.
02
Algorithm validation
Any change to an algorithm is tested and validated by our multidisciplinary team before it goes live.
03
Clinical trials
New features go through rigorous clinical testing with real users.
04
Continuous monitoring
Even after launch, we continuously monitor the performance and accuracy of the results.
Why have a scientific committee?
A scientific committee guarantees that Santelle meets the highest medical and scientific standards. Our experts validate every algorithm, biomarker and recommendation to protect your safety and the accuracy of the results.
Has Santelle been clinically tested?
Yes. Santelle has been through rigorous clinical testing involving more than 2,000 women across Europe. These studies validated the accuracy of our 6 biomarkers and the reliability of our diagnostic algorithms.
How did you choose the 6 biomarkers?
The 6 biomarkers (vaginal pH, H₂O₂, leukocyte esterase, sialidase, beta-glucuronidase and N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase) were selected on the basis of the most recent scientific literature. Each one helps detect a specific aspect of vaginal health.
Do Santelle’s recommendations replace a medical consultation?
Santelle helps you understand your vaginal health and tells you when a medical consultation is recommended. For serious or persistent cases, however, always see a healthcare professional.
Do your experts publish their research?
Yes. The members of our scientific committee are active researchers who publish regularly in peer-reviewed medical journals. That keeps Santelle grounded in the most current science.
